Daruma dolls
The Daruma doll (達磨 daruma?), also known as a Dharma doll, is a hollow, round, Japanese traditional doll modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of the Zen sect of Buddhism. These dolls, though typically red and depicting a bearded man (Dharma), vary greatly in color and design depending on region and artist. Though considered an omocha, meaning toy, Daruma has a design that is rich in symbolism and is regarded more as a talisman of good luck to the Japanese. Daruma dolls are seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck, making them a popular gift of encouragement. The doll has also been commercialized by many Buddhist temples to use alongside goal setting.

Dolls of porcelain, Enchanted Dolls by Marina Bychkova
For many women, breast cancer can be one of the darker fears we are raised with. This is especially true in a society that glamorizes, fetishizes, and focuses on women's breasts so much. From the old masters to the tackiest video game, young women are taught that breasts are a large part of what makes us beautiful. However, our bodies can turn on us, we can develop breast cancer, and we can lose these lovely parts of ourselves. The horror of this mutilation is only compounded by how the world looks at us as women, and this fear is what Marina's newest Enchanted Doll faces head on.

Pinokkio
EXCLUSIVE: Guillermo del Toro, The Jim Henson Company and Pathe are ready to go on Pinocchio, a 3D stop motion animated adaptation of the Carlo Collodi fairy tale that will be edgier than the 1940 animated Disney classic. Gris Grimly will co-direct with Mark Gustafson, and production will begin later this year. Grimly illustrated a 2002 book of Collodi’s tale that formed the basis for a project that is years in the making.

Guillermo Del Toro regisseerde oa BladeII, Hellboy, Pans Labyrinth
La Virgen Del Pastel [Our Lady of Chocolate Cake]
I was going to make some Maria paintings and I came across this work I really like the style of Teresa Villegas
